I have to rest my eyes from looking at jewelry by reliving my glory days full of gorgeous amazing pieces (sigh!) I totally forgot about this STUNNING cognac old mine pear cut diamond set by Cartier. The sautoir necklace was so finely made and you could remove the large drop for a more casual look. The piece sold to an adorable client who had us create an additional bale so that she could attach one of her yellow diamonds to the sautoir for more of a ~daytime~ look. Clearly @occasional_coles and I needed some supervision or maybe a bodyguard since we enjoyed playing with large diamonds outside a little bit too much 🤭

I am OBSESSED with how this custom engagement ring turned out. I had so much fun bringing my client’s ideas and inspiration to life ✨ She was deciding between an emerald cut and a marquis cut center gemstone so we put together some preliminary designs and ultimately decided this 2.86 carat emerald cut center was going to give us the most elegant look. A little throwback Thursday! I always dig up these old photos/videos whenever I get bored on the plane. Truly the best opal I’ve ever seen (I’m not a big opal fan) but the red play of color was SO COOL. It wasn’t an easy sale either and I did lots of research and had to put my little sales cap on to make this one happen. The clients were German and very very very strict about the quality of opals they would purchase. It was definitely one of my more interesting calls. This opal also struck me as unusual because of the almost perfectly round shape. I’m used to opals being oval or asymmetrical and blobish.
Tamara de Lempicka was the queen of Art Deco glamour—fusing bold, modern style with classical techniques. After selling a piece, she’d treat herself to a new Art Deco bracelet and often had herself photographed with her diamond baubles stacked all the way up her forearm. I had the opportunity to help celebrate her legacy by dressing her great-granddaughter, Marisa and her granddaughter, Victoria for the opening event at the MFAH. We selected a few jewels that were the perfect tribute to Tamara’s iconic style. If you’re in Houston, the exhibit is open until May 26th. Look at that huge emerald cut diamond in the center! I have this bracelet grouped with the other Art Deco pieces but I think she’s probably from the 1940’s. Still a great use of smaller diamonds and platinum.

What was I doing three years ago today? Obviously, I was wearing Christina Onassis’s stunning 38-carat diamond necklace by Harry Winston. The pear-cut diamond, displaying D color and VVS1 clarity, was gifted to her by her father, Aristotle Onassis, in the 1970s. I’ve always admired the timeless design by renowned HW jeweler Jacques Timey. He knew how to create a grand setting without overshadowing the primary gemstone. It was fascinating to own a piece with such a well-known history. I read quite a bit about Christina Onassis when we acquired this necklace.
